We engage with businesses to co-create market-based solutions to end inequality
India’s growth engine is fuelled by aspirations of its over 1.25 billion people. Government of India’s policy initiative for inclusive development popularised by the slogan ‘together with all, development for all’ sets the right context for a nation with extreme inequalities.
The private sector is being looked at as the primary driver of the India growth story. Therefore its role to support the call for equitable and inclusive growth is becoming increasingly critical. A more responsible Indian private sector is not just important for India alone but also globally.
Indian private sector has been rapidly expanding overseas and its role in global development will soon be more evident. On the other hand with increased foreign investment in India the small and medium enterprises will need to be compliant with international standards to compete.
Oxfam has a history of engaging with private sector across the globe to bring about more accountability and responsibility for more than a decade.
Oxfam India aims to advance the growth and development of India in an inclusive, sustainable and equitable manner by engaging with the private sector to design and adopt appropriate pro-poor business solutions.
