GENDER JUSTICE

Equal Rights and Dignity for Women

The Gender Justice programme of Oxfam India broadly covers violence against women and pushes for their political empowerment. Our aim is to gradually eliminate the social acceptance of violence against women through policy and practices, and simultaneously bringing a change in social beliefs and systems that propagate violence.

Oxfam India successfully executed 'We can End Violence against Women' in 13 states, with 34 partners and 9 National level partners.

Transformative Leadership of Women's Rights

The persistent under-representation of women in political life and decision making has led to a 'democratic deficit' in India. The discrimination women face prevents them from demonstrating their full potential and excludes them from benefiting equally from developmental process.

Oxfam India strives for a governance process which makes participation of citizens, men and women an inclusive process, with everyone benefiting equally.
